Management Cites New Technology, Customer Support, and Global Growth
NEW RICHMOND, WI
IMS Dredges, a division of Ellicott Dredge Technologies, LLC exceeds all past sales records with two months to go in 2009.
Jim Horton, IMS President said, “For the past 6 years we have been intensely focused on growing the IMS Dredges brand globally. With the introduction of new products like the IMS Model 7012 HP Versi-Dredge®, expansion of our field service department, and the expansion of our global representative network we continue to earn a positive name in the global dredging community.”
The IMS Weedmaster cutterhead, featured exclusively on the Model 5012 LP Versi-Dredge® , allows contractors and government agencies to eliminate siltation and vegetation infestation problems with only one machine. The Weedmaster simply fits in place of the standard dredge cutterhead and converts the dredge system into a weed harvesting system. The major advantage the Weedmaster has over conveyor type harvesters is that it uses the 5012 LP’s low pressure pump system to pump the vegetation up to several thousand feet away instead of having to load and unload barges which involves extra capital, labor, fuel costs and risks greater downtime. Other pump systems cannot handle vegetation and that is what makes this product so unique.
Another major success for IMS is the Model 7012 HP Versi-Dredge® which has surpassed all expectations, with dozens of systems shipped around the globe to countries as diverse as South Africa, Nigeria, Iraq, Libya, Cameroon, Malaysia and Turkmenistan. In addition to global sales, the 7012 HP has been a major success in the U.S. market including applications like marina cleaning and river maintenance for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and FEMA projects. When Two Rivers Levee & Drainage Association of Mediapolis, Iowa needed a dredge for maintaining its irrigation system, it contacted IMS. IMS visited Two Rivers and presented a complete package solution. FEMA, a U.S. Government agency involved in disaster relief, provided funding for the purchase, and IMS launched the 7012 HP Versi-Dredge® with the Broadcaster discharge attachment for side discharge directly onto the banks adjacent to the river channel. This process allowed the dredging system to avoid the capital expense and operating expense of pipeline and most importantly allowed the Two Rivers to move more material faster. Just months later, Two Rivers reports that they have cleared several miles of drainage canals repairing recent flood damage to the canal system

According to Vicki Stoller, Two Rivers Levee & Drainage Association Administrator, “We purchased the Model 7012 HP Versi-Dredge® with a GPS system to make the process of ditch maintenance as efficient and easy as possible.
“Before we had to keep re-handling material on the canal banks when we used a backhoe, but now we just use the Broadcaster on the 7012 HP dredge to spray the dredge discharge 80 ft (24m) plus in each direction onto the banks. It has simplified the entire canal maintenance process. There is no re-handling of material so it has cut costs,” said Richie Yotter, Station Manager, Two Rivers Levee & Drainage Association.
IMS attributes part of its success to repeat buyers. Various domestic and foreign clients awarded repeat orders to IMS in 2009.
IMS’s focus on international distribution and its policy to stock all dredge models have allowed it to meet immediate customer demands as they arise. Whether IMS clients need to deepen a key military port for national security reasons or clean a river channel to prevent flooding, IMS has the ability to supply its clients immediately in most cases.
“Our state of the art factory, the largest dredge manufacturing facility under roof in the Americas, allows us to stay ahead of the game and keep a multi-million dollar inventory to meet the immediate demand of our global clientele” remarked Jim Pflueger, General Manager.
