Yacht Havens
Group Ltd. Chooses IMS Versi-Dredge®
NEYLAND,
PEMBROKESHIRE, U.K. – Yacht Havens Group Ltd., owner of six
premier yachting facilities in the U.K, has taken delivery of an IMS
Model 4010 Versi-Dredge® at its Neyland Yacht Haven location.
The dredge will maintain several of the Yacht Havens
Group’s yachting facilities around the U.K.
These marinas accommodate various water craft and yachts for
leisure and competitive boating.
The Model 4010 Versi-Dredge® was delivered on a single
trailer and launched by a boat lift with an IMS service technician
present on-site.

4010 Versi-Dredge is commissioned at
Neyland Yacht Haven
It's compact size and horizontal cutter make it
extremely efficient in marine dredging operations.
“We have bought a
4010 Versi-Dredge® to dredge at our marinas in Neyland Yacht Haven,
South Wales and Fambridge Yacht Haven, Essex U.K.,” said Dylan
Kalis, managing director of Yacht Haven Group Ltd.
“Both of these marinas are very narrow with large tidal
ranges and high siltation rates; the 4010 met our criteria for a
compact, effective, and road transportable cutter suction dredger
with a 24 foot (8 m) working depth,” said Kalis.
Maneuverability was
a key factor in the dredge selection process for the Yacht Havens
Group. IMS’s patented
Starwheel Drive® self-propulsion system, a cable-free feature on
all IMS Versi-Dredge® models, allows the operator to move in and
out of boat slips and channels without disruption to boat traffic.
The Starwheels can be operated on the surface as a paddle
wheel or on the bottom as a traction drive.
Both the Starwheels are equipped to operate at variable
depths and speeds giving the operator complete control and excellent
maneuverability within confined spaces that dredgers typically
encounter in marinas.

Kalis said:
“The controls are easy to manage, the John Deere engine is
easily accessible, the Starwheel Drive® system works on the surface
and the bottom, the cutterhead makes an 8 foot (2.6 m) wide bite
into material on a 1 meter high face, and most importantly, the
production of the 4010 is good."
As soon as testing
is completed at Neyland Yacht Havens later this month, Yacht Havens
Group will transport their Versi-Dredge® by road to Fambridge Yacht
Havens in Essex to perform its first maintenance dredging project.
The Yacht Havens Group is also planning on chartering the
dredge for berth and channel maintenance at other marinas in the
U.K.

“We
are very pleased with our 4010.
Our only regret is that we didn’t buy two machines while
the Dollar rate was so cheap,” said Kalis.
This is IMS’s
first Versi-Dredge® sale in the U.K.
IMS also recently won a bid to supply the City of Muscatine,
IA, located in the Mid-West United States, with a Versi-Dredge® to
maintain the City’s municipal marina.
In addition, this year IMS has delivered Versi-Dredges® to a
marine contractor in the Middle East, a mining company in western
Africa, and to an Asian government for urban canal maintenance.
